Welcome!Thank you for visiting my political website. Although this is an election year and everyone is focused on national presidential races, here in Illinois I am focused on the job I was elected to do. We are in the midst of our hectic legislative session where I chair the Environmental Health Committee, lead the environmental caucus and co-chair the bipartisan Conference of Women Legislators focusing on issues facing women, children and families. Our legislative session is scheduled to conclude by the end of May. I am so fortunate to have a broad base of support throughout the district, winning by overwhelming and increasing margins for four terms, including right at 70% in the last election. During those terms I have developed a strong reputation as an independent-minded leader who works with members of both parties to do the right thing for education, health care and the environment. I am proud of the awards I have received from environmental, health care and consumer groups for my strong leadership on these issues.
But I do not take any re-election for granted. Later this summer I will be launching a re-election campaign and welcome your help as I reach out in a grassroots campaign to neighbors and friends. I have proven to be an effective leader who gets things done in Springfield and stands up for the issues important to our communities.
